ESSAY SAMPLE ON "THE ROLLING STONES"

The Rolling Stones

The English rock band The Rolling Stones was formed in 1962.

The five origional members of the group were lead singer Mick Jagger

(1943- ), guitarists Keith Richard (1943- ) and Brian Jones

(1942-1969), bassist Bill Wyman (1936- ), and drummer Charlie

Watts (1941- ). Brian Jones left the band in 1969 just before his

death. Mick Talyor replaced Jones. Five years later in 1974 Talyor

quit the band. Ron Wood has been the stones second guitarist since

then.

The Rolling Stones were origionaly formed to play the music

of earlier blues and rock artists. However, years later Jagger and

Richard soon began writing most of the band's material. Some of

their hit songs include "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" (1965),

"Get Off My Cloud" (1965), "Honky Tonk Women" (1969), "Brown Sugar"

(1971) and "Start Me Up" (1981). In the 1980's the members of

The Rolling Stones began involving themselves in solo recording

projects.
