English Chemist and Physicists Michael Faraday
Faraday's father, who was a blacksmith, suffered from poor health and could only work
irregularly. As a child, he knew real poverty.
Michael Faraday was born in Newington, England, in the year of 1791, and past away in the
year of 1867.
Faraday was a popular lecturer. He gave scientific lectures for children every Christmas.
"The Chemical History of a Candle," is the most famous of his lectures.
Michael Faraday, one of the greatest English chemist and physicists, discovered the
principle of electromagnetic rotation in 1821. Faraday made crucial discoveries that led
to the invention of the electric motor. Electric motors are the driving force that makes
most machines work today. On a typical morning we use a blow dryer, exhaust fan in the
shower and we start our car which relies on an electric motor. Faraday was unaware of his
discoveries, but his work laid the foundation for growth and future applications.
Faraday's education was limited for he left school at the age of 13. At a young age, he
worked and learned the trade from a bookseller and binder in 1804. The turning point in
his life came when he became Sir Humphrey Davy's assistant at the Royal Institution in
London in 1813. He became the respectable lecturer by obtaining knowledge while working
with Davy. Faraday's discoveries changed the world completely.
